Kelly Brand is an accomplished jazz pianist, composer, arranger and educator who
recieved her B.A. in music from the University Of Illinois, Champaign.
She performed with Roy Eldridge and Barrett Deems at the very fi rst Chicago Jazz Festival .
She has played at that festival a number of times since then as well as at Ravinia where she led
her own group and later played with Marian McPartland.
In 2001 and 2003 Kelly was awarded residencies at the acclaimed Ragdale Artists Retreat in
Illinois. Thanks to the International Music Foundation, Kelly performs with the PANGAEA
TRIO and gives jazz lectures at schools all over Chicago. She has taught at the Merit Music
School and currently teaches in Ravinia’s Music Illumination Program. Her most recent CD,
SISTER LUNA, was widely praised as was her fi rst CD on Koch Jazz, A DREAM IN A STONE.
Material from that CD is included on LADIES IN JAZZLAND, a compilation which also
features Abbey Lincoln and Maria Schneider.
